An article cut-and-pasted from the University of Western Australia's web-site. A Jeff Lomas, Manager Global Business Conduct at BHP is mentioned in the 7th paragraph of this article. Note the date of he article, February 3rd in 1999 - just a few months before the BHP share-price "recovery".
So as I understand it BHP were lobbying for a law change just before they were to launch into an "insider trading"/"share-market manipulation" scam of unimaginable proportions! WHOT A HIDE !!! (you know I can't spell - just like BHP)

Corruption And Foreign Bribes Seminar
A new anti-corruption law imposing criminal penalties for payment of foreign bribes is a major issue facing Australian business, according to Dr Abu Siddique, of The University of Western Australia.
"The new law will implement the OECD Convention which comes into force on 15 February 1999 and to which Australia and 33 other industrialized countries are signatories. It will require changes to business practices for Australian companies and professional firms in overseas markets as well as new corporate codes and compliance programs," he said.
Dr Siddique, is Director of the Centre for Migration and Development Studies at The University of Western Australia.
"The Asian financial crisis has drawn attention to the damage which corruption and cronyism can cause Australia and the rest of the international community has an important role in curbing these undesirable practice."
The new anti corruption law and foreign bribery will be discussed at a seminar to be held at The University of Western Australia on February 10, 1999, from 2pm to 5pm. The seminar is being convened jointly by Transparency International (TI), the Centre for Migration and Development Studies (CMDS) at The University of Western Australia, The Institute of Chartered Accountants, The Law Council and The Institution of Engineers with the corporate sponsorship of BHP.
Dr Siddique said the seminar, entitled 'Criminalizing Foreign Bribery: The new environment' would assist the understanding of the new international consensus to curb corruption; the workings of the draft legislation; to know whether facilitation payments are permitted; and related issues. Case studies will be discussed.
Expert speakers will include; Tunku Abdul Aziz, President of Transparency International's Malaysia national chapter; Peter Rooke, CEO of Transparency International-Australia; Jeff Lomas, Manager Global Business Conduct at BHP; and Gayle Hill, Special Counsel of Freehill Hollingdale and Page.
"Everyone concerned about the damage corruption causes to economic, social and political development would have an interest in this seminar," Dr Siddique said.

Visit BHP's web-site http://www.bhpbilliton.com/bb/aboutUs/ourCharter.asp - the "About Us > Our Charter" section which is presented following. I have underlined and enlarged just two portions of interest from BHP's web-site;
* Integrity - Doing what we say we will do. AND
* Our shareholders are realising (sic) a superior return on their investment.
Where in the hell is BHP's integrity over stealing the rights to my invention (they must have said they were going to do it - therefore its OK)!
Also I'm sure any shareholder would be wondering just how BHP can put their statement "* Our shareholders are realising (sic) a superior return on their investment." on a web-site and the company not be sued for libel! (what about the $2 billion to $3 billion profit they ignored for 6 years)"About Us > Our Charter
We are BHP Billiton, a leading global resources company.
Our purpose is to create value through the discovery, development and conversion of natural resources, and the provision of innovative customer and market-focused solutions.
To prosper and achieve real growth, we must:
* Actively manage and build our portfolio of high-quality assets and services.
* Continue the drive towards a high-performance organization (sic), in which every individual accepts responsibility and is rewarded for results.
* Earn the trust of employees, customers, suppliers, communities and shareholders by being forthright in our communications and consistently delivering on commitments.
We value:
* Safety and the Environment - An overriding commitment to safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
* Integrity - Doing what we say we will do.
* High Performance - The excitement and fulfillment (sic) of achieving superior business results and stretching our capabilities.
* Win-Win Relationships - Having relationships, which focus on the creation of value for all parties.
* The Courage to Lead Change - Accepting the responsibility to inspire and deliver positive change in the face of adversity.
* Respect for Each Other - The embracing of diversity, enriched by openness, sharing, trust, teamwork and involvement.
We are successful in creating value when:
* Our shareholders are realising (sic) a superior return on their investment.
* Our customers and suppliers are benefiting from our business relationships.
* The communities in which we operate value our citizenship.
* Every employee starts each day with a sense of purpose and ends each day with a sense of accomplishment."The "Win-Win" relationships is another good one except I'd replace it with "Steal-Steal" relationships - or perhaps "Thief (Brain BUFFIER - ex-brother-in-law) - Receiver of Stolen Property" (BHP) Relationships!
BHP r thieves
P.S. Don't blame me for the spelling mistaxes (sic)!

I've just been given another Judgment for the two court cases 3295 and 3298 of 2000. I have been supplied these Judgments on many occasions and the three page Judgment in these matters is news to me! This new Judgment has that my "solicitor" had ceased to act for me and this Judgment was dated 7/11/2000. I have correspondence from my "solicitor" informing me to cancel his acting for myself dated over a month later!
Another Wollongong-based solicitor asked for some correspondence from this "solicitor" who was purportedly acting for me. This correspondence was about the "solicitor's" overseas holiday which just so happened to coincide with the date initially set for the hearings. "Chance of a lifetime", the "solicitor" said! I handed the originals to the Wollongong-based solicitor and later when I asked for them back this Wollongong-based solicitor denied he ever had them. Do you think that the Wollongong-based solicitor was in collusion with the "solicitor" purportedly acting for me. Perhaps if I tell you a little more about this Wollongong-based solicitor - at 3:20pm exactly two weeks* before the initial date set for the hearings, this Wollongong-based solicitor rang me and said he would help me write the subpoenas. Oddly enough previously in conference he said that he couldn't write subpoenas!
* subpoenas need to be lodged with the Supreme Court of NSW two weeks before the day of the hearing for interstate delivery i.e. BHP headquarters (600 Bourke Street Melbourne) and if the respondent plays hard-to-get (to be granted substituted service). Doesn't all this sound a bit sus?
5\
The funny thing is that I have certified copies of the original letter I gave to the Wollongong-based solicitor. Now some documentation will conflict so which documentation do you think will disappear? I'll bet the three-page "Judgment" will go!
ONE MORE PIECE OF EVIDENCE FOR THE ROYAL COMMISSION
P.S. I'll have some really 'juicy' stuff soon! (How BHP deal with people who have genuine grievances with the multinational - don't expect bravery!)

I have heard from a number of sources that there is a rumour going around the Illawarra about BHP being corrupt. ITS NO RUMOUR - ITS FACT !!!
I wonder when the situation becomes that embarrassing for any government in Australia and something is done about this BHP Inc. stink! David's NOT* saying very much - to me anyway!
* Chairman of the ASIC3\
Another thing - this FACE EMPLACED Services Support invention is actually a safety device because, at the time of introduction of the invention into underground mining (early 1992), pipelines were collapsing with some frequency in the industry. In mid-1992 the Undermanager-in-Charge for GRETLEY COLLIERY ordered some FACE EMPLACED brackets because one of his workmen was nearly killed. A pipeline collapsed onto him injuring his back in the process and he was unable to extricate himself from under this pipeline. The problem was that this employee was working alone in a remote part of the mine and someone did not immediately come to his aid. Only the fact that this workman was able to keep his head clear of the muddy pool he was trapped in saved his life!2\
I challenge BHP to have made the number of people their series of frauds affect larger given even more time to plan! SAS Trustee Corporation, in the "Beswick deal" (SWINDLE 5), sold at least 21 million shares in the calendar year 1999. Although I don't know for sure that these shares were sold before the share-price "recovery" I'll let the reader have an educated guess when these shares were sold. SAS is STATE SUPER - I'll bet all the nurses and other NSW Government employees really love our trust fund managers for there being less in the kitty (21 million shares times an assumed $6 increase in share-price = $126 million) to pay-out superannuation!
Its hard to be not blown away by BHP's audacity (in collusion with the trust fund managers). Perhaps BHPstinks.com is the wrong address for this web-site - BHPputrid.com might be better!

Today 21st October, 2001, I was directed by the shift boss of Wollongong Police and another officer, to stop handing out the BHP Inc. flyers at the steelworks North Gate. Wait till they find out that their superannuation fund (STATE SUPER) was robbed by BHP - they'll pull-over drivers at random and the only "ticket" they issue will have the www.BHPstinks.com web-site address on it. I suppose they'll direct that the motorist to, "Go straight home and visit the web-site!"
INITIAL PART OF WEB-SITE
"THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES"There's a story about an emperor who was dressed by his tailor in absolutely nothing! This tailor managed to convince his emperor that he was in fact dressing him in finery and all of the population went along with the concept - the few that disagreed were hushed up! One child saw through the ruse though and on him blowing the whistle the whole of the population spoke up to the great embarrassment of the emperor.
This whole story of BHP Inc. is very similar to that "The emperor had no clothes story". BHP will become the laughing stock of the whole country!
The most common comment I receive when I tell people about this BHP Inc. saga is, "I'm not surprised." The second most common comment is, "I'd believe it." This type of comment is a really bad indictment on our society! After you get past the anger if you are a BHP (Billiton) shareholder you'll understand that BHP is just a "Corruption Junkie" - without their daily fix they'd suffer from withdrawal symptoms!

BHP executives are corruption junkies
Now I don't think that Australia should let BHP get away with this - I propose that BHP (Billiton) be sent to anti-Corruption Kindergarten for treatment for their 'problem' and if we are all very patient with them they will eventually grow up and not ever "shoot up" our economy again by not availing themselves of an opportunity to cancel 1/6th of Australia's balance-of-trade deficit for the year!
the yank in action!
Perhaps at this anti-Corruption Kindergarten a type of "methadone" can be administered under controlled conditions where if BHP (Billiton) are only a little bit corrupt, but are making good progress in their anti-corruption endeavor, then they are tolerated. I'll send a anti-corruption Report Card home on BHP (Billiton) if you become a member of the Mailing List.
